Raksha Bandhan 2023: Date, Shubh Muhurat & Celebrations.

Raksha Bandhan carries immense significance in Hindu culture, with roots in ancient tales. One of the prominent legends stems from the epic Mahabharata. The story narrates that Lord Krishna accidentally injured his finger on the Sudarshan Chakra.

Observing this, Draupadi tore a piece of her saree and used it to bind his wound, halting the bleeding. Touched deeply by her selfless act, Lord Krishna pledged eternal protection to her. He honored this vow when Draupadi faced humiliation in the royal court of Hastinapur, defending her against the Kauravas‘ attempts to shame her.

Rakhi has evolved to symbolize the profound connection between siblings in Hindu tradition. Moreover, the festival provides an opportunity for married women to revisit their parental home and partake in the festivities.
