Rajnath Singh: Military Modernization in I- Day Eve Address

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh conveyed a resolute message to the soldiers on the eve of India's 77th Independence Day, emphasizing the government's unwavering commitment to modernizing the armed forces. He underscored the importance of providing the troops with cutting-edge training and equipment to safeguard the nation's security and effectively address forthcoming challenges. In the face of any ill intentions or hostilities directed towards India, Singh assured that the armed forces are fully prepared to respond with a fitting reply.

During his radio address to the soldiers, Singh underscored that optimal equipment and training are essential for the armed forces to perform at their best. These initiatives not only bolster the soldiers' morale but also enable them to overcome obstacles and achieve victory. The government's dedication to furnishing the military with top-tier training and world-class equipment reflects its determination to help the country tackle future adversities effectively.

Singh reiterated the critical role that soldiers play in upholding India's sovereignty and freedom. He emphasized that India is a nation that prioritizes peace, yet it remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding its interests from any potential threat. While the nation seeks peace, it is equally resolute in responding to any malicious intentions with a decisive and robust counteraction.

The Defense Minister acknowledged that the government has addressed long-standing concerns of the armed forces, such as the implementation of the One Rank, One Pension scheme. Swift action was taken to fulfill this demand upon assuming power in 2014. Singh highlighted that the scheme was further revised in the current year, resulting in disbursements of ₹8,413 crore to over 17 lakh pensioners. Additionally, strides have been made to ensure a more inclusive and equitable environment within the armed forces, including the groundbreaking induction of women officers into the Artillery Regiment.

In a heartfelt expression of gratitude, Singh conveyed the nation's appreciation to the soldiers for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice. He acknowledged the diverse and challenging environments in which they serve, from the frigid heights of Kargil to the depths of the ocean and the scorching deserts of Thar. The minister's message resonated with the sentiment that these brave men and women, regardless of their location, occupy a special place in the hearts of India's 1.4 billion citizens.
