As part of the official delegation, PM Modi is joined by his counterparts: President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, President Lula da Silva of Brazil, and President Xi Jinping of China. Notably, Russian President Vladimir Putin will engage virtually in the discussions, while the Russian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Johannesburg, the vibrant and populous city of South Africa, is the chosen host for this year's BRICS Summit. President Cyril Ramaphosa serves as the summit's chair, guiding the proceedings and fostering productive conversations among the leaders.

In a notable development, after the conclusion of the BRICS Summit on August 25, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Athens, Greece. This visit holds historic significance as it marks the first time in four decades that an Indian Prime Minister will set foot in Greece. The visit is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and explore avenues for cooperation between the two nations.
