Michael Douglas Praises PM Modi's Leadership at IFFI 2023

The 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa, witnessed a moment of appreciation from Hollywood heavyweight Michael Douglas towards Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The acclaimed American actor and film producer expressed his admiration for the strides made in the Indian film industry under PM Modi‘s leadership.

During his interaction at the festival, Douglas emphasized the global recognition of Indian cinema, stating, “You had 78 foreign countries represented, and it's only a reflection of the strength of your Indian filming, which is renowned and known around the world.” He commended the diversity and international impact of the festival, seeing it as a testament to the robust Indian film industry.

Speaking about PM Modi's role in the film sector, Douglas noted, “I think you're in very good hands. I think it's beginning to be more and more the spirit and beauty of this festival.” This praise reflects the actor's positive outlook on the developments and growth in Indian cinema under the current leadership.

Douglas also acknowledged Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, for his contributions to the film industry. He stated, “Under Minister Anurag Thakur, as well as Prime Minister Modi, the last few years, we've seen more money put into the production and financing of films. It's been a very successful time.”

Beyond the financial aspects, the veteran actor highlighted the unifying power of movies. He spoke passionately about how films transcend language, race, religion, and gender, bringing people from diverse backgrounds closer together. “With all the different languages we speak, movies share the same language,” he remarked, emphasizing the universal appeal of cinema.

In Douglas's view, the role of movies in bridging cultural gaps is crucial. “Audiences from wherever you are in the world can understand what's going on. He said, “I think a very important aspect of it is that movies bring us closer together.”

Michael Douglas's positive remarks underscore the global impact and potential of the Indian film industry, with PM Modi and Minister Thakur at the forefront of fostering its growth and international recognition. The 54th IFFI stands as a testament to India's cinematic prowess and its ability to bring people together through the language of cinema.
