Lionel Messi Misses Inter Miami MLS Match

Lionel Messi Misses Inter Miami MLS Match for Argentina WC

Lionel Messi, the renowned football star, is gearing up to represent Argentina in the FIFA World Cup, which means he will have to skip one of Inter Miami's MLS matches. This news has left Inter Miami fans wondering about his availability for an important game against LAFC.

.Messi's absence is a result of his commitment to the Argentine national team as they kick off their journey in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign. Argentina's first match is set against Ecuador in Buenos Aires on September 7, followed by an away game against Bolivia just three days later.

While initially, it was anticipated that Messi might miss Inter Miami's clash with LAFC on September 4, recent reports suggest that he will indeed play in that game before joining his national squad. However, fans of the Miami team will have to accept the fact that he won't be around for their home game against Sporting KC on September 10.

Messi has already made his presence felt in Inter Miami's matches, with his debut game ending in a 0-0 draw against Nashville, snapping their winning streak. This development left many wondering about the team's performance in his absence.

Argentina's national coach, Lionel Scaloni, has named a strong 32-man squad for the World Cup qualifiers, with Messi as the captain. The squad also includes notable players like Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi.

Some promising young talents, such as Alan Velasco from FC Dallas, Bruno Zapelli and Lucas Esquivel from Athletico Paranaense in Brazil, and Lucas Beltran from Fiorentina, have earned their spots in the team. Additionally, Paula Dybala from AS Roma and Geronimo Rulli, the Ajax goalkeeper, will join the squad.

As for Inter Miami's current standings, they find themselves in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, tied on points with Toronto, with a goal difference separating the two teams.

The head coach, Tata Martino, remains optimistic about their chances of making it to the MLS playoffs despite the challenges. He acknowledged the frustration surrounding their recent performance and emphasized the need to keep pushing forward.

Injuries have unfortunately ruled out some key players like Paula Dybala and Geronimo Rulli from Inter Miami's lineup, adding to the team's challenges as they strive to secure a spot in the playoffs.
