India's 1st Bullet Train Station: Sabarmati Multimodal Hub

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor project is steadily advancing, marking a significant milestone with the completion of a substantial portion.

Recently, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared an intriguing video on X (formerly Twitter), offering a sneak peek into India's inaugural bullet train station situated at the Sabarmati multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad.

In the shared video, viewers are treated to a captivating blend of modern-day architecture harmoniously intertwined with cultural heritage.

The Sabarmati station stands as a testament to state-of-the-art design, aiming to enhance the travel experience by providing passengers with comfort and convenience.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor project is a major undertaking currently in progress, and the initial phase is anticipated to be operational by 2026.

The ambitious project is slated for completion by 2028, promising to connect the two bustling metro cities in a swift 2.07-hour journey, courtesy of a maximum design speed of 350 kmph.

Notably, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the overseeing body for the project, recently announced the completion of 100 km of viaducts and 230 km of pier work for the corridor.

Among these infrastructural achievements are bridges over six rivers traversing Gujarat: Par and Auranga in Valsad, Purna, Mindhola, Ambika, and Venganiya rivers in Navsari district.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, with an estimated cost of ₹1.08 lakh crore, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his then-Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in September 2017.

The funding structure involves a ₹10,000 crore contribution from the central government to the NHSRCL, with Gujarat and Maharashtra each committing ₹5,000 crore. The remaining project cost is financed through a loan at a nominal 0.1 percent interest rate from Japan.

As the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor continues to take shape, the nation eagerly anticipates the transformation it will bring to inter-city travel, ushering in an era of high-speed connectivity and modernized transportation infrastructure.

The Sabarmati multimodal transport hub stands as a beacon of progress, embodying the seamless integration of cutting-edge technology and rich cultural heritage.
