Embraer, the renowned Brazilian aircraft 1manufacturer, has exciting plans in store for the future of transportation. They are set to construct a cutting-edge factory near Sao Paulo, dedicated to producing electric flying taxis. These innovative taxis, created under the subsidiary named Eve, are expected to grace the skies by 2026.

Resembling compact helicopters, these air taxis will accommodate up to six passengers at a time. The company envisions making these thrilling aerial trips accessible to the public at an affordable cost, with fares ranging between $50 to $100 per person (£39-£78).

Eve's visionary concept has already garnered immense interest, with nearly 3,000 orders already in the pipeline for these futuristic air taxis. Their ambitious timeline involves assembling a prototype this year, with the goal of making air taxis operational in the United States as early as 2025, following recent regulatory announcements.

The distinguishing feature of these electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft is their ability to travel long distances akin to conventional airplanes while obviating the need for a conventional runway. With electric motors at their core, these air taxis promise quieter and more eco-friendly flights compared to traditional planes, reducing noise pollution and environmental impact.

Embraer believes that these flying taxis could play a pivotal role in alleviating traffic congestion in bustling urban centers, without being financially burdensome for potential customers. Additionally, they see the potential for these vehicles to serve as an innovative solution for cargo transportation.

The chosen location for the factory, Taubate, lies approximately 140 km (87 miles) away from Sao Paulo, Brazil's economic hub. These drone-like passenger vehicles will initially be deployed in taxi fleets, with a pilot on board during the early stages. Nevertheless, the company has ambitious plans to introduce self-piloted vehicles later in the rollout.

The focus on 100% electric propulsion ensures emission-free flights, aligning with the company's commitment to environmentally-friendly aviation. This breakthrough development in electric flying taxis presents an exciting and sustainable future of transportation, offering an entirely new dimension to urban mobility.
