Elon Musk Teases Zuckerberg Over Threads Usage
Elon Musk has taken a playful swipe at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, playfully remarking on his minimal activity on Meta's new social platform, Threads. Musk, renowned for his candid commentary on competitors, didn't hesitate to share his thoughts. During a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, he highlighted Zuckerberg's conspicuous absence on Threads, the text-based social media app launched by Meta in July.
In his trademark straightforward manner, Musk echoed the sentiment that Threads resembles a “ghost town,” commenting on its uncanny stillness. He quipped, “I mean, Zuck himself doesn't post. You've got to use your own product,” emphasizing the importance of executives actively engaging with the products they oversee.
Threads, despite its initial surge in popularity with millions of downloads within its first five days of release, experienced a decline in daily users shortly thereafter. In an internal meeting with Meta employees, Zuckerberg acknowledged the app's challenges in retaining users.
As for the current state of Threads, a report from Business Insider suggests that it has “just under” 100 million users, as noted by Zuckerberg during a Meta earnings conference call. He expressed satisfaction with the platform's progress and indicated their intent to concentrate on community growth. Zuckerberg shared his vision for the platform, aspiring to create a “billion-person public conversations app that is a bit more positive” in the future.
