Doha Diamond League 2024: Neeraj Chopra;'s Olympic Kickoff!
Catch Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena in action as they kick off their Olympic journey at the Doha Diamond League 2024 this Friday. Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Olympic and world javelin champion, is set to take the field alongside Kishore Jena, making his Diamond League debut.
Both athletes have already secured spots for the Paris Olympics. Their last showdown was at the 203 Hangzhou Asian Games, where Jena claimed silver and Neeraj clinched gold. Neeraj has a remarkable record, being the only Indian athlete to grab the Diamond League title, achieving it in Zurich back in 2022. However, he surrendered the crown last year to Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic, who is also competing this year and secured silver in Tokyo 2020.
Neeraj is eyeing to break the 90m mark. “My training has been on point, and I've had some solid throwing sessions leading up to this event,” he stated. “I feel good, but there's tough competition. Three throwers have already surpassed the 90m mark, and I'm still striving to reach there.”
Vadlejch boasts a personal best of 90.88m, while Anderson Peters holds 93.07m and Julius Yego with 92.72m. “I'm aiming for it. I hope to break this barrier tomorrow,” Chopra expressed.
