Updates on ‘Delhi Chalo' Protest
Various farmer associations, predominantly from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, have organized the ‘Delhi Chalo' march on February 13. Their primary demand revolves around ensuring a minimum support price (MSP) for their agricultural produce, a condition agreed upon during the withdrawal of their previous agitation in 2021.
Enforcement Measures and Security Deployment
An advisory issued indicates the imposition of traffic restrictions for commercial vehicles at the Singhu border since Monday, extending to all vehicle types from Tuesday onwards. Delhi Police commissioner Sanjay Arora personally inspected the city's borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to oversee security arrangements.
Security Personnel Deployment and Barricades
To prevent the entry of protesting farmers into the national capital, over 5,000 security personnel have been deployed. Additionally, cranes and earthmovers carrying large containers are actively working to block roads. Multiple security barricades have been erected at the borders, with nails installed on roads to puncture the tires of vehicles attempting to breach the blockade.
