Shah Rukh Khan Denies Role in Indian Navy Veterans' Release
Shah Rukh Khan has spoken out about rumors linking him to the release of Indian Navy veterans from Qatar. During a recent trip to the nation for work, there were claims suggesting his involvement in the matter of eight Navy veterans who were detained in Qatar on espionage charges but later released with intervention from the Indian government.
However, Shah Rukh's manager, Pooja Dadlani, clarified on behalf of the actor, stating that Shah Rukh had no role in the release. The statement emphasized that the successful resolution was solely the result of efforts by Indian government officials, and Shah Rukh's involvement was unfounded.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted that matters involving diplomacy are best handled by capable leaders, expressing Shah Rukh's happiness at the safe return of the naval officers and wishing them well.
Regarding the situation in Qatar, last December, the country's Court of Appeal reduced the death penalty for the eight retired Indian Navy personnel, who had been imprisoned since October 2022 on charges of alleged espionage related to a submarine program. On February 12, seven of them returned to India, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs.
During his visit to Qatar, Shah Rukh met with Prime Minister HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha and also attended the AFC final as a special guest. However, his involvement in the matter of the released veterans was denied by his office.
