Bhajan Lal Sharma: Rajasthan's New CM Takes Oath Today on His B'day

In a historic ceremony at Ramnivas Bagh in Jaipur, Bhajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

The ceremony, graced by dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda, marked a significant political transition in the state.

Who is Bhajan Lal Sharma?

Born into a family of farmers in Atari village, Bharatpur, 56-year-old Bhajan Lal Sharma has a humble background. His educational journey led him through government schools in Nadbai, his home tehsil, culminating in a BA degree from Maharani Shri Jaya Government College in 1989. Sharma's early foray into politics began during his college years, when he joined the ABVP, the student wing of the BJP.

In 1994, at the age of 27, he became the sarpanch of Atari village, a position he held twice. Over the years, Sharma climbed the political ladder within the BJP, serving in various capacities such as mandal adhyaksh and three-time state organizational secretary.

Deputy CMs Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa

Joining Bhajan Lal Sharma in his new role are Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa.

Diya Kumari, the granddaughter of the last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur, Man Singh II, entered the BJP in 2013. Her political journey gained momentum when she won a seat in the 2013 Rajasthan Assembly elections, representing Sawai Madhopur.

Diya Kumari further solidified her political presence by triumphing in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, emerging victorious with an impressive margin of 5,51,916 votes.

Prem Chand Bairwa, 54, represents the Dudu Vidhan Sabha constituency. After facing defeat in the 2018 elections, Bairwa made a strong comeback in 2023, defeating Congress candidate Babulal Nagar with a substantial margin of 35,743 votes.

Shaping the Future of Rajasthan

Bhajan Lal Sharma's ascent to the position of Chief Minister comes after a resounding victory in the November 25 assembly elections. The BJP secured 115 out of the 199 contested seats, completing a generational shift in key heartland states. With a clear mandate, Sharma expressed his commitment to working under Prime Minister Modi's vision, aiming to fulfill the aspirations of the people and lead Rajasthan towards development.

As the new leadership takes charge, all eyes are on the collective efforts of Bhajan Lal Sharma, Diya Kumari, and Prem Chand Bairwa to steer Rajasthan into a new era of progress and prosperity.
