Rinku Singh's Brief Apology: Six Damage in 2nd T20I vs SA

Indian cricket witnessed a spectacular display of power-hitting from Rinku Singh during the second T20I against South Africa, as he made a strong case for his spot in the upcoming ICC World T20.

However, the match took an unexpected turn when one of Rinku's brutal sixes caused damage to the media box glass at St. George's Stadium.

In a rain-curtailed encounter, Rinku's explosive innings of 68 runs off 39 balls showcased his prowess as a finisher in the shortest format. With a strike rate of 174.36, he contributed significantly to India's total of 180-7 in 19.3 overs. Alongside skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku's dynamic performance added excitement to the South Africa T20I series.

Despite Rinku's heroics, Team India faced a setback as the Proteas secured a 5-wicket victory in the penultimate clash. The focus now shifts to the T20 World Cup cycle, with young Indian talents like Rinku vying for a spot in the star-studded squad.

What caught everyone's attention, however, was the unintended consequence of Rinku's powerful hitting. His six not only cleared the boundaries but also shattered the glass of the media box at St George's Stadium.

In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rinku issued a heartfelt apology for the unintentional damage caused. “When I hit that shot, I didn't know the glass had broken; it was only afterward that I was told the same. Uske liye sorry,” expressed Rinku.

Despite the setback, Rinku's commitment and resilience were evident in his innings. Facing a challenging situation with three wickets down, he revealed Suryakumar Yadav's words of encouragement. “Surya bhai was telling me, ‘Play the way you have so far. Take your time.' He asked me to keep believing in myself. He calmed me when I wasn't able to middle the ball in the beginning,” shared Rinku. As the innings progressed, he successfully read the wicket and stitched a crucial partnership, surpassing Virat Kohli's record in the process.

While Rinku's smashing innings may have left a mark on St George's Stadium, his genuine apology and stellar performance ensure he remains in the spotlight as India prepares for the T20 World Cup. The unintentional glass-breaking incident adds a unique twist to Rinku Singh's memorable innings, making it a talking point in the cricketing world.
