WhatsApp's AI Chatbot
Great news for WhatsApp users! Meta has just introduced its AI chatbot to the platform, bringing a host of services ranging from customer support to appointment scheduling. This new feature is powered by Meta's latest advancements in large language model research and the expertise of Microsoft's Bing Chat.
The AI chatbot, initially available to a limited number of users in the United States, has now expanded its reach. According to a report from WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android includes a shortcut button in the ‘Chats' section, conveniently positioned above the ‘New Chat' button. This addition aims to streamline access to the AI chatbot, making it easier for users to get assistance without navigating through their conversation list.
What can the AI chatbot do? Well, it's quite versatile! Users can utilize it for tasks such as answering questions about WhatsApp, seeking customer support, and even managing appointments or reservations. During the Meta Connect 2023 event, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled this advanced chatbot, highlighting its capabilities in tasks like trip planning, providing recommendations, delivering jokes, settling group chat debates, and serving as a knowledge source.
Meta has collaborated with Microsoft's Bing Chat to enhance the chatbot's capabilities, ensuring real-time web results. An exciting feature is the ability to generate lifelike images using a simple ‘/imagine' command, similar to text-to-image generators like MidJourney and Bing Image Creator. What's even better? All of this is available for free.
But that's not all WhatsApp has in store. Alongside the AI chatbot, a new feature is being tested to simplify access to status updates. Users can filter and view status updates in a vertical list, making it easier to catch up on shared content. Beta testers with version 2.23.24.11 may also notice a “See all” button, providing a quick vertical list of their status updates. This section includes four filters, allowing users to systematically categorize updates from their contacts and stay in the loop without missing a thing.
