JioCinema has signed a deal with Pokemon to boost Kids' Entertainment content
JioCinema, the entertainment arm of Reliance, has recently inked a significant deal to enhance its content library, positioning itself in direct competition with streaming giants like Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar. The strategic move involves a partnership with The Pokemon Company, focusing on elevating kids' entertainment content within the streaming platform. This exclusive deal, finalized this month, designates JioCinema as the sole Indian platform for over 1,000 episodes and approximately 20 movies from the popular Japanese anime series.
The anime series will undergo dubbing in up to three Indian languages, a strategic move aimed at widening its appeal among diverse regional audiences. Notably, Pokemon stands as a globally renowned and lucrative media franchise, spanning trading cards, games, and TV shows. However, specific financial details regarding this collaboration remain undisclosed at this time.
This collaboration underscores Reliance's recent efforts to integrate content catering specifically to children, showcasing the company's commitment to expanding its footprint in India's rapidly growing streaming market. Research firm Media Partners Asia, as mentioned in the news report, predicts that the domestic streaming market is poised to reach a substantial value of $7 billion by 2027.
According to sources quoted in the report, JioCinema is set to augment its children's content library by approximately 3,000 hours. This includes a diverse array of movies and shows sourced from Entertainment One, Animaccord, Cartoon Network Studios, DreamWorks, and more. As Reliance continues to make strategic content partnerships, JioCinema aims to solidify its presence and offer a compelling and diverse streaming experience to its audience.
