Delhi Court Grants Divorce to Honey Singh
The Delhi court has recently granted divorce to renowned singer-rapper Honey Singh and his wife, Shalini Talwar, marking the end of a nearly 13-year-long marriage. The Principal Judge of the Family Court, Paramjit Singh, approved the second motion filed in this case, invoking the Hindu Marriage Act. This particular motion is submitted after a waiting period of six to 18 months following the initial divorce petition, allowing for an interregnum.
Honey Singh and Shalini Talwar entered into wedlock in January 2011. After 11 years of marriage, they jointly filed a divorce petition in September 2022, invoking Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. The court accepted their plea and granted a six-month interregnum period for reflection.
Advocate Ishan Mukherjee, representing Honey Singh, confirmed the court's decision, stating, “The second motion has been granted, and the divorce decree has been issued.” However, he refrained from providing further details, emphasizing the private nature of this matrimonial matter. Advocate Vivek Singh, the legal counsel for Shalini Talwar, also declined to comment, highlighting the personal nature of the issue.
In August 2021, Shalini filed a domestic violence case against Honey Singh at the Delhi Tis Hazari Court. Subsequently, Honey Singh responded on social media, vehemently denying the allegations as “odious,” “false,” and “malicious.” However, these allegations were eventually withdrawn when the parties reached a settlement, effectively putting an end to the tumultuous and protracted one-and-a-half-year legal battle.
