Dussehra 2023: Kangana Ranaut becomes the first woman to burn Ravan

On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, Kangana Ranaut, the renowned Bollywood actress, had the distinct honor of participating in the time-honored tradition of setting the effigy of Ravana ablaze at New Delhi's famous Lav Kush Ramleela. This event, which has been a tradition for over five decades at the iconic Red Fort, marked a historic moment as Kangana became the first woman to symbolically vanquish the demon king by shooting an arrow into the effigy.

Arjun Singh, the President of the Lav Kush Ramleela Committee of Delhi, explained that this decision was made in recognition of the Women's Reservation Bill, which recently passed in Parliament. He remarked, “Whether it's a prominent film star or a distinguished politician, our event has been graced by VIPs year after year.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have both had the honor of performing this ritual. Even film stars like Ajay Devgn and John Abraham have participated. Last year, Prabhas had the privilege of setting Ravana ablaze. However, for the first time in our event's 50-year history, a woman, Kangana Ranaut, assumed this prestigious role.”

The Lav Kush Ramleela Committee has been a strong advocate for women's rights and equality. Arjun Singh emphasized their commitment to achieving gender equality by stating, “Women's participation in all facets of life is on the rise, yet there is still a long journey ahead. The Women's Reservation Bill will undoubtedly contribute to the progress of our nation and society.”

In a bold statement, Singh expressed the importance of breaking away from narrow-minded perspectives, saying, “Now, women can also symbolically eliminate evil by setting fire to the effigy of Ravana. This right should be extended to women, and that's why we chose Kangana Ji for this significant role.”

The Women's Reservation Bill, a transformative piece of legislation, aims to secure 33 percent representation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, further advancing the cause of gender equality in India.

As for Kangana Ranaut's current endeavors, she is actively engaged in the promotion of her upcoming film “Tejas,” set to be released shortly. In this film, written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, Kangana assumes the role of an Indian Air Force pilot.

In summary, the inclusion of Kangana Ranaut in the Ravana effigy burning ceremony at Lav Kush Ramleela not only marks a historic moment but also underscores the ongoing efforts to promote gender equality in India. Kangana's participation in this age-old tradition serves a

s a powerful symbol of progress and empowerment, highlighting the significance of the Women's Reservation Bill and the evolving role of women in all aspects of Indian society.
