Boney Kapoor Clarifies: Janhvi's Birth Occurred Within Our Marriage
In a recent interview, Boney Kapoor opened up about his marriage to the late actress, Sridevi. He clarified that although they were officially married in 1996, their union only became public in January 1997 when Sridevi's pregnancy became visible. The couple, known for their Bollywood fame, was blessed with two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
Boney Kapoor was candid in addressing the misconceptions surrounding Janhvi Kapoor's birth. He shared that he and Sridevi tied the knot in Shirdi in June 1996. However, they chose to keep their marriage under wraps until January, when Sridevi's pregnancy became evident. During an interview with YouTuber Rohan Dua, Boney recounted the time when Sridevi was expecting their daughter, Janhvi Kapoor.
Boney also touched upon their religious beliefs, emphasizing that neither he nor any family member shied away from their spiritual identity. He fondly recalled Sridevi's religious practices, mentioning her regular visits to Tirupathi every three months and her tradition of walking barefoot to Siddhi Vinayak on her birthdays. In times of trouble, she'd embark on the journey from Juhu to Siddhi Vinayak barefoot.
When asked about their temple wedding, Boney clarified, “My second marriage, my marriage with Sri, took place in Shirdi. We exchanged vows on June 2, and spent a night there, but it was only in January, when her pregnancy was visible, that we had no choice but to marry publicly. The public ceremony took place on January 1997. This is why some journalists still incorrectly report that Janhvi was born before our marriage.”
Boney also shared his sentimental attachment to Sridevi's Chennai house. He revealed that the house was rarely used, leading to dampness issues in closed rooms. Boney took the initiative to renovate the entire house, which had separate rooms for family members, including Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, and their parents. Even after the renovation, he continues to feel Sridevi's presence whenever he visits the house.
After their 1996 wedding, Boney and Sridevi welcomed two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi, into their lives. Boney had two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor, from his first marriage to Sunita Kapoor.
Tragically, Sridevi passed away in February 2018 due to an accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel bathtub while attending a family wedding. Despite the clarity provided by Boney Kapoor, rumors about Janhvi's birth being before their marriage persist, emphasizing the importance of setting the record straight.
