In the music video, we see Olivia Rodrigo embracing a more rebellious side as she parties with her friends and contemplates the idea of rekindling a romance with an ex-partner. The lyrics capture the essence of the moment, with Rodrigo singing lines like, “Haven't heard from you in a couple of months, but I'm out right now and I'm all messed up. You're calling my phone, and you're all alone, and I'm sensing some undertone.” The scenes alternate between Rodrigo's crowd surfing and enjoying a rain-soaked ride in the back of a pickup truck at night.
The video boasts a distinct “Euphoria” vibe, resonating with its youthful and daring atmosphere. Joining Rodrigo in the video are Tate McRae, Iris Apatow, and Madison Hu, who add their own flair to the visual experience.
Rodrigo took to Instagram the night before to announce the single and video release. She mentioned how much fun she had working on the song with producer and songwriter Daniel Nigro in New York City last year. What started as a playful chorus idea eventually evolved into a full-fledged song that Rodrigo and Nigro fell in love with. The accompanying music video was a blast to create, according to Rodrigo, as she tagged Apatow, Hu, and McRae in her post.
