Aimee Harris, a woman from Florida, recently faced legal trouble for stealing and selling Ashley Biden‘s diary, the daughter of President Joe Biden. She was sentenced to one month in prison and three months of home confinement by a Manhattan federal court judge, Laura Taylor Swain. The judge strongly condemned her actions, calling them “despicable.”
Aimee, residing in Florida, came across Ashley Biden's diary along with other personal items like a digital storage card, books, clothing, and luggage at a friend's place in Delray Beach in 2020. Ashley had believed her belongings were safe there after a temporary stay earlier that year.
Harris admitted to selling Ashley Biden’s private writings, tearfully apologizing in court. She mentioned she had experienced long-term domestic abuse and sexual trauma, trying to explain her actions. In the courtroom, with a lawyer representing Ashley Biden present, Aimee expressed regret for making Ashley's personal life public. She is set to report to prison in July.
So why did Aimee Harris sell Ashley Biden's diary? In August 2022, Harris pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge. She confessed to receiving $20,000 out of $40,000 paid by Project Veritas for Ashley Biden's personal items. Aimee, along with co-defendant Robert Kurlander, also tried to sell these items to then-President Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign.
Project Veritas, the organization involved, is known for its undercover investigations targeting news outlets, labor organizations, and Democratic politicians. U.S. Attorney Robert Sobelman argued that Aimee wanted to harm Ms. Biden's father and was driven by a desire for profit.
Aimee Harris, a mother of two young children, claimed she was preoccupied with caring for them. However, the court found her guilty, leading to her sentencing.
